Pope Leo XIV sends message of goodwill to Azerbaijan
The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, has extended congratulations and blessings to Azerbaijan on the occasion of its Independence Day, celebrated on May 28, in a letter addressed to President Ilham Aliyev.
In his message, the Pope expressed wishes for solidarity and prosperity for the Azerbaijani people and offered prayers for the country’s continued development, Caliber.Az reports via state media.
“On the occasion of your national holiday, I am pleased to extend to Your Excellency and the people of Azerbaijan my best wishes for solidarity and prosperity,” the Pope wrote.
He also prayed for guidance and peace for the country, stressing values of social harmony and humanitarian responsibility.
“I pray to Almighty God to guide the Azerbaijani people in the continued development of their society. May they always be advocates of peace, working for the common good, upholding the dignity of every person, and extending assistance to those in need. I invoke Divine blessings upon Your Excellency, those entrusted with public responsibilities, and all the people of Azerbaijan,” the letter reads.
