Preparations for second phase of Baku port construction begin
Feasibility studies related to the second phase of the construction of the Baku port will be completed by mid-2023.
Director-General of Baku International Commercial Sea Port CJSC Taleh Ziyadov told reporters about this, Report informs.
"The work on the first phase was carried out by a Dutch company, and the second was also entrusted to it. According to preliminary estimates, after the completion of the second phase of construction, the capacity of the Baku port will increase to 500,000 containers per year," he said.
The first stage of construction of the Baku port was completed in 2018, as a result of which the port's capacity amounted to 15 million tons per year and 100,000 TEU containers.
Currently, the port is able to meet the incoming volumes of cargo, but forecasts of an increase in the volume of transhipment in the near future require the early start of the second phase of construction.
