Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of a newly constructed urban highway in the Khatai district of Baku, replacing the old "Javanshir" bridge.
The ceremony marked the completion of a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing transportation and safety in the area, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azertag.
Azer Nematli, Director of the Road Project and Scientific Research Institute of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads, provided a briefing to President Aliyev on the project’s details.
The "Javanshir" bridge, located on Uzeyir Hajibayli Street in the Khatai district, had suffered from deteriorated load-carrying capacity due to years of use. To address this issue, a modern four-lane highway was constructed on the site of the old bridge.
The new highway spans 400 metres and includes newly installed pedestrian paths to ensure the safety and comfort of both vehicle drivers and pedestrians. The project also features additional landscaping, a modern lighting system, and green areas along the dividing lanes and roadsides, contributing to the area’s aesthetic and functional improvements.
