President Aliyev: Azerbaijan and Vietnam united in strengthening Non-Aligned Movement
Azerbaijan and Vietnam share a common interest in bolstering the Non-Aligned Movement as a more effective international platform, according to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Speaking at a joint press conference with To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President Aliyev highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the two nations within the framework of the organisation, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“We are cooperating within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement. Azerbaijan chaired this organization for four years and left a remarkable legacy. Today, strengthening the Non-Aligned Movement as a more robust institution serves the interests of both countries,” said Aliyev.
The Azerbaijani leader also noted alignment between the two nations on key international principles.
“Today, we also exchanged views on the supremacy of international law, and there is no divergence of opinion in this regard either,” he stated.
President Aliyev underscored the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue.
He said: “All issues must be resolved within the framework of international law, based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the inviolability of borders of states, and that all disputes must be settled through negotiations and peaceful means.”
