President Aliyev: Azerbaijan enjoys stable, successful development

Azerbaijan continues to demonstrate stable and successful development, President Ilham Aliyev said during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group.

“One of the things which has not changed is Azerbaijan’s stable, successful development,” President Ilham Aliyev said during his speech at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Caliber.Az reports via state media.

“And this is the demonstration of the policy we conduct, a policy based on our national interests, in good relations with all the actors in the global arena and with a strong commitment to our successful development,” the head of state noted.

Aliyev underlined that Azerbaijan’s 35-year independence has been marked by challenges in its early years, followed by long-term stability and growth.

“Azerbaijan has been independent for only 35 years. And except for the first two years of war, occupation, humanitarian catastrophe, civil war, and other difficulties, the rest was characterized by the stable development of the country, and this is one of the main prerequisites for the success of every country,” President Aliyev said.

He also stressed that stability remains the key foundation for both national and regional development.

“Where stability is undermined, we cannot talk even about development. So stability—political, economic, and social stability—which today is a reality in Azerbaijan, is not only the main factor for our development but also a factor in regional development. Because with strong ties on a regional scale and also in the global arena, Azerbaijan has already become an important actor in many aspects,” the head of state said.

He further highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing international standing and diplomatic outreach.

“With the strong ties in the regional scale and also on global arena, Azerbaijan already became an important actor in many aspects,” Aliyev said.

The head of state noted that thanks to Azerbaijan's independent foreign policy, the country has gained strong support in the international community, adding that the number of Azerbaijan's friends is growing year by year.
