President Aliyev: "Each of us understood well, that our victory will not be possible without Shusha"

"I can say, that in the course of the past two years our Armed Forces have become even stronger".

As APA reported, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev gave this remark during an event in Shusha, marking the occasion of Victory Day.

"Both structural reforms and the creation of new formations, as well as the simultaneous increase in the number of existing formations, their supply with weapons and ammunition and equipping them with new [military] technology are all being carried out at the highest level. The Azerbaijani army is stronger now than it was two years ago, and everyone has to know about this, Armenia and everyone!", Supreme Commander-in-Chief Aliyev stated.

He recalled, that starting from the first right up until the last day of the war, our army has only been moving forward.

"From the first day until the last day of the war, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces moved only forward, not a single step was taken backward for 44 days. Although we know from world military history that during such complex wars, especially [when fought out] under conditions of unfavourable to us terrain, there can be maneuvers, retrograde steps, and unforeseen events. But strong will, love for the Motherland and the professionalism of our servicemen led us to victory. 27 September - on the first day of the war, when six villages were liberated, the Azerbaijani people became even more convinced that we will achieve the desired goal and will fulfill our historic mission", the President further added.

Aliyev noted, that Shusha is truly seen as an impenetrable fortress. "When our heroic military soldiers, equipped with light arms, liberated Shusha, they were marching towards their deaths. They marched towards death in the name of the motherland, for our lands. Each of us understood well, that our victory will not be possible without the city of Shusha".
