President Aliyev: Europe's energy security unimaginable without Azerbaijan and Georgia
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has emphasised the crucial role of Azerbaijan and Georgia in ensuring Europe’s energy security during a joint press conference with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili.
"Today, if we are talking about Europe's energy security, it is impossible to imagine it without Azerbaijan and Georgia," President Aliyev stated, highlighting the importance of both countries in the energy sector, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He went on to elaborate that Azerbaijan currently exports natural gas to 12 countries, including Georgia, and that these exports are facilitated through Georgian territory. This partnership, Aliyev explained, is further strengthened by significant achievements in transport and communications. The construction of new railways and ports has created a strong synergy between the two nations, positioning them as integral components of the Middle Corridor.
"Naturally, political relations are developing, high-level contacts are regular, and political dialogue is active. That is, two friendly, brotherly countries, in the truest sense of the word, are very close to each other and constantly support each other within international organisations," the Azerbaijani President remarked.
Aliyev also highlighted the importance of joint investment projects between Azerbaijan and Georgia, noting that these initiatives are not only significant for the two nations but for a much broader region. "The oil and gas projects, oil and gas pipelines, transport and communication projects jointly implemented by Azerbaijan and Georgia are, in the true sense of the word, projects of great importance."
Reaffirming the longstanding ties between the two nations, Aliyev emphasised, "For centuries, our peoples have lived in peace, friendship, and brotherhood — and this remains true today. Interstate relations are at a high level."
The Azerbaijani President's remarks underscored the deep and lasting collaboration between Azerbaijan and Georgia, which continues to play a vital role in regional stability and energy security.
