President Aliyev hails Communist Party leader’s visit as milestone for Vietnam-Azerbaijan ties
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has emphasised the importance of the visit by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, calling it a key moment in advancing ties between the two nations.
“Your visit is of great importance for the development of Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations,” President Aliyev said during a joint press statement with To Lam on May 7, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Azerbaijani leader expressed optimism about the outcomes of the visit, noting, “I am confident that the outcomes of the visit will be successful and that the agreements reached will translate into concrete projects.”
As part of the official visit, both delegations held expanded talks and delivered formal statements to the media, highlighting shared interests and potential areas for enhanced cooperation.
General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, arrived in Azerbaijan for an official state visit on May 7.
A formal welcoming ceremony took place at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, where a ceremonial guard was stationed to greet the distinguished guest.
To Lam, accompanied by his wife, Ngo Phuong Ly, was welcomed by senior Azerbaijani officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov and Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, among others.
