President Aliyev hails “new era” in Azerbaijan-France ties in letter to Macron

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has congratulated President Emmanuel Macron and the people of France on the country's National Day, saying recent high-level contacts between the two countries provide grounds to view bilateral relations as entering a “new era.

In a congratulatory message addressed to Macron, Aliyev extended his best wishes on the occasion of the National Day of the French Republic and highlighted recent high-level contacts between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports.

The Azerbaijani leader emphasised that productive discussions held during their recent telephone conversations, as well as their meeting in Copenhagen last year, covered key issues on the Azerbaijan-France agenda and the current and future prospects of bilateral relations.

“These discussions give us reason to say that a new era has begun in the history of our interstate relations,” Aliyev said.

The president also outlined several areas where he sees potential for deeper cooperation between the two countries.

"I believe that, for the benefit of our peoples, we will continue our joint efforts, in a spirit of partnership, to further develop our relations, which are rooted in deep historical ties and rich traditions, in the economic, cultural, educational, and other fields of mutual interest," Aliyev noted.

Concluding his message, the Azerbaijani leader wished the people of France peace and prosperity on the occasion of the national holiday.
