President Aliyev: Heydar Aliyev’s legacy is undeniable in Azerbaijan’s history
President Ilham Aliyev reflected on the historical legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and his decisive impact on Azerbaijan’s statehood and independence during his meeting with residents in the city of Zangilan.
“The role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the history of Azerbaijan is undeniable,” the Azerbaijani leader noted, according to the state media.
The head of state emphasized that the policies pursued under the National Leader’s leadership played a crucial role in preserving Azerbaijan’s independence during difficult years, ensuring the continuity of statehood and laying the foundation for future development.
“The decisive role of the National Leader in the history of Azerbaijan will never be erased from our memory,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
He further noted that the continuation of Heydar Aliyev’s political course directly shaped today’s realities in the liberated territories, including Zangilan, where Azerbaijan has fully restored its sovereignty.
“By continuing his policy, today we stand here in Zangilan. We expelled the enemy from our lands and restored our territorial integrity. Leading up to that, we built a strong economy, established a strong army, strengthened patriotic spirit in society, and effectively succeeded in leading Azerbaijan out of international isolation,” the head of state added.
President Ilham Aliyev also underlined that the liberation of the occupied territories fulfilled what he described as the central vision and aspiration of the National Leader.
“The greatest dream of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was the liberation of our native lands from occupation. We—his successors—have fulfilled his testament,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
He concluded by stressing that Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity has been fully restored and affirmed: “Today, every inch of land within the territory of Azerbaijan belongs to the Azerbaijani people. By expelling the occupiers from our lands, we have restored our territorial integrity and sovereignty.”
