President Aliyev offers condolences to Montenegro's Milatović amid fatal mass shooting

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his condolences to Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović in a letter regarding the tragic armed attack in the town of Cetinje that resulted in numerous casualties. 

The letter was published on December 2 onto the official website of Azerbaijan's head of state, Caliber.Az reports.

In the letter, President Aliyev expressed his heartfelt condolences to Jakov Milatović and the people of Montenegro following the tragic loss of life, including children and injuries caused by an armed attack in Cetinje.

"The news of the tragic armed attack in the city of Cetinje, resulting in casualties and injuries, has deeply shaken us. In connection with this tragedy, I share your grief and extend my heartfelt condolences to you, the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and the people of Montenegro on behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan. I also wish a swift recovery to those injured," the presidential letter read.

As Caliber.Az recalls, a dispute at a local bar escalated into violence when an armed assailant, Aco Martinović, 45, opened fire on the evening of January 1. In the course of the shooting 12 people were killed, including two children with several others having been injured.
