Newly appointed Eswatini envoy praises President Aliyev’s role in regional peace PHOTO / UPDATED

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini to Azerbaijan, Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu, has emphasised the role of Ilham Aliyev in promoting peace and stability in the region as he presented his credentials during a meeting with the Azerbaijani President on April 14.

The ambassador conveyed the greetings of King Mswati III to the head of state, with President Ilham Aliyev expressing his gratitude and asking that his own greetings be conveyed in return, Caliber.Az reports per the presidential website.

President Aliyev fondly recalled the visit of King Mswati III to Azerbaijan during the Non-Aligned Movement Summit 2019 held in Baku in 2019 and expressed hope that the monarch would attend the upcoming World Urban Forum session scheduled to take place in the capital next month.

Highlighting the current state of relations, the Azerbaijani President praised the level of political dialogue between the two countries and noted the strong potential for expanding cooperation across various sectors.

The head of state also wished the ambassador success in his future diplomatic activities.

Ambassador Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as on the country’s economic achievements, while particularly underscoring his diplomatic efforts and role in advancing peace in the region.

The ambassador affirmed his commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and stated that he would spare no effort to deepen cooperation between Azerbaijan and Eswatini.

He also noted that Eswatini, as Chair of the African Union Peace and Security Council, continues to actively contribute to peace and security efforts across the African continent.

During the meeting, the sides praised the mutual support between Azerbaijan and Eswatini within international organisations and discussed prospects for cooperation in energy, science, education, humanitarian affairs, tourism, environmental protection, and culture.

They also underlined the importance of organising reciprocal visits at various levels to explore new avenues of cooperation and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
