On May 13, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Okay Memiş, Secretary General of the National Security Council of the Republic of Türkiye, in Baku.

President Aliyev underscored the importance of Memiş selecting Azerbaijan as the destination for his first official visit following his appointment, describing the decision as a testament to the strong ties between the two nations. He expressed confidence that the visit would yield productive outcomes.
Memiş, for his part, said he was honoured to begin his official engagements in Azerbaijan, highlighting the special bond between the two countries.
During the meeting, both sides praised the deepening of the strategic partnership and alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. They noted that the close relationship between President Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continues to play a key role in advancing bilateral cooperation.
The discussions also touched on the robust collaboration across various fields, with particular emphasis on security cooperation.
