A prestigious ceremony took place in Budapest on May 21, where Nobel Prize laureate Aziz Sancar was honoured with the Alisher Navoi International Prize.

The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, who joined dignitaries and guests in celebrating the achievements of the distinguished scientist, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Aziz Sancar, renowned for his groundbreaking work in molecular biology and DNA repair, received the award in recognition of his significant contributions to science and humanity. The Alisher Navoi International Prize, named after the famous 15th-century poet and thinker, celebrates individuals who have made outstanding impacts in their respective fields.
