President: Azerbaijan, Ethiopia relations continue to strengthen

Relations between Azerbaijan and Ethiopia continue to develop along an upward trajectory, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in a congratulatory message to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on the country’s national holiday.

In a letter addressed to the Ethiopian leader, President Aliyev highlighted the steadily deepening ties between the two countries and expressed confidence in further expanding bilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports via state media. 

“On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you and your people on the occasion of the national holiday of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia,” Aliyev said.

He noted that discussions held during the Ethiopian prime minister’s visit to Azerbaijan in February had been productive and had helped define new areas for cooperation.

“It is gratifying that relations between Azerbaijan and Ethiopia continue to develop along an upward trajectory and are being enriched with new substance,” he said.

President Aliyev also referred to agreements reached during the visit, saying they had opened new opportunities for expanding bilateral engagement.

“I highly appreciate our productive meeting, the exchange of views, and the discussions we held during your visit to Azerbaijan in February. The agreements we reached during the visit regarding the future directions of Azerbaijan-Ethiopia relations have opened up new opportunities for expanding the scope of our bilateral agenda,” he added.

He expressed confidence that both sides would continue to strengthen interstate relations and develop mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors.

“I am confident that we will successfully continue our joint efforts toward strengthening interstate ties and realizing the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields,” Aliyev said.

The Azerbaijani president also extended wishes for peace, prosperity, and success to the people of Ethiopia on their national day.

"On this festive day, I wish you robust health, happiness, success in your endeavors, and everlasting peace and prosperity to the friendly people of Ethiopia," the letter reads.
