President Ilham Aliyev arrives in Astana for SCO Summit

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan arrived in Astana on July 3 to attend the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), hosted at the invitation of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The official website of the Azerbaijani presidency reported on the visit, as per Caliber.Az.

A formal guard of honour was arranged at Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport to welcome President Aliyev upon his arrival. He was received by Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev, alongside other high-ranking officials, marking the start of his participation in the SCO summit.

It should be noted that this is the second participation of Ilham Aliyev in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. Previously, at the invitation of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Azerbaijani head of state attended the SCO summit held in Samarkand on September 16, 2022.
