Red Crescent: Nearly 20,000 civilian buildings damaged in Iran
Nearly 20,000 civilian buildings across Iran have been damaged during the ongoing conflict involving Israel and the United States, according to preliminary estimates from the Iranian Red Crescent Society shared with Al Jazeera.
According to the humanitarian organisation’s initial assessment, around 19,734 civilian facilities across the country have sustained damage since the start of the hostilities.
The damaged structures include a range of essential public facilities, such as hospitals, schools and centres providing assistance to the population.
In particular, the Iranian Red Crescent said that 77 medical centres and 65 educational institutions were among the sites that had been damaged.
The organisation also reported that 16 facilities operated by the Red Crescent itself were affected during the conflict.
