Revanchist rhetoric in Armenia will not lead to positive outcomes – FM
Revanchist sentiments continue to persist in Armenia, and this cannot lead to positive results, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said.
Speaking to journalists after visiting the Alley of Honours on the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth, the minister emphasised that Armenia is approaching an important political stage, noting that the upcoming parliamentary elections will be significant for the country’s future,Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“We know that parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia in the near future. Their results will depend on whether the country moves to a new stage of development. There is, if I may say so, a tense struggle there, and various groups are using different instruments. Unfortunately, there are still individuals in Armenia’s political circles with revanchist views toward Azerbaijan, and they are demonstrating this during the election campaign by making open accusations,” Bayramov said.
He stressed that such rhetoric cannot bring positive results for Armenia.
“We believe that the Armenian voter will properly assess these processes and make their choice. The Azerbaijani state is always closely monitoring developments. We shape our policy primarily based on Azerbaijan’s national interests, the strengthening of its power, and its further development as a leading state in the region,” the minister added.
He also stated that Azerbaijan is confident in the continuation of its chosen course.
