Russia: Drone attack sparks fire in Yaroslavl industrial zone
A fire broke out in an industrial zone in Russia’s Yaroslavl region following a reported drone attack overnight on 29 May 2026.
Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevrayev confirmed that the strike targeted fuel storage facilities, stating that emergency services were deployed to contain the blaze.
“Today, the region came under a massive attack by Ukrainian UAVs. Most of the drones were shot down, but industrial fuel storage facilities were hit. Emergency services are working to extinguish the fire. There are no casualties,” Yevrayev said.
At around 4 a.m., the governor announced traffic restrictions. For safety reasons, the exit road from Yaroslavl towards Moscow was closed near the intersection of Moskovsky Prospekt and the South-Western Ring Road. Authorities later announced that traffic had resumed and that the drone alert regime across the region had been lifted.
The area affected by the road closure includes Yaroslavl’s large southern industrial zone, home to oil refining and fuel facilities, including the Slavneft-Yaroslavnefteorgsintez (YANOS) refinery, the Spetstorg Plus oil depot, a bitumen plant, the CHP-3 power station, and other enterprises. Moskovsky Prospekt is one of the main roads leading to the city’s industrial cluster.
