Russian drones spotted over critical infrastructure in northern Germany
German prosecutors have launched an investigation into multiple instances of Russian drones flying over critical infrastructure in northern Germany, suspecting espionage activities.
The Flensburg Public Prosecutor's Office has begun a preliminary inquiry, focusing on potential agent activity for sabotage purposes related to these repeated drone sightings, senior public prosecutor Bernd Winterfeldt said, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Winterfeldt stated that he could not provide additional information on the investigation due to state security concerns. This month, a no-fly zone over a nuclear power plant has been breached multiple times. Authorities from the Schleswig-Holstein state criminal police suspect that the unidentified drones are Russian Orlan-10s, which have a range of 500 to 600 kilometers and can travel at speeds exceeding 100 kilometres per hour.
