Fox News: Melania Trump penned "peace letter" to Putin ahead of Alaska summit PHOTO
First Lady Melania Trump wrote a “peace letter” to Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him to protect children and future generations, Fox News Digital reported on August 16.
The letter was hand-delivered by President Donald Trump to Putin at the start of their high-stakes summit in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 15. According to the report, Putin immediately read the letter as both delegations looked on.
“Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger,” the letter began.
It continued by stressing the duty of leaders to safeguard future generations: “Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all—so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded.”
In one of the letter’s most striking passages, the first lady told Putin, “You can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter. In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone—you serve humanity itself. Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today. It is time.”
The Alaska summit marked the first face-to-face meeting between Trump and Putin in years and the first U.S.-Russia summit since June 2021, under former President Joe Biden. The two leaders have held several phone conversations this year discussing possible steps to end the war in Ukraine.
Following the talks, Trump described the meeting as “extremely productive,” while acknowledging that major issues remain unresolved. “There were many, many points that we agreed on, most of them, I would say. A couple of big ones that we haven't quite gotten there, but we've made some headway. So, there's no deal until there's a deal,” he told reporters.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed he will travel to Washington, D.C., on August 18 to meet with Trump. Writing on X, Zelenskyy said he had been briefed by Trump on the key points of his talks with Putin and welcomed the U.S. president’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.
