Kyiv was hit by a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack early on November 25, killing one person, injuring at least seven and damaging multiple residential buildings across the capital and wider Kyiv region, according to Ukrainian officials.
The Ukrainian Air Force said the assault involved Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Novorossiysk area, ballistic missiles, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and kamikaze drones, many of which were directed toward Kyiv. Several missile groups also approached the capital from the Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions, Caliber.Az reports via Ukranian media.
Kyiv City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko said air defences were actively engaging targets throughout the night as the city came under a “combined” strike. Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported drone activity over the Obolonskyi district and confirmed continuous missile movement toward the capital during the attack.
Emergency services said four people were injured in Kyiv and nine residents were rescued from damaged buildings. In the Pecherskyi district, a missile hit a 22-story apartment building, damaging several floors and sparking a fire that was later contained.
Another nine-story building in the Dniprovskyi district caught fire after being struck, with eight residents rescued. Debris also damaged structures in the Darnytskyi district.
Tkachenko confirmed one fatality in Kyiv, while regional authorities reported another death in Bila Tserkva, where a 14-year-old girl was among the injured.
The Ministry of Energy said parts of Kyiv experienced power and water outages after Russian forces targeted energy infrastructure, with rapid repair work now required.
Rescue operations and damage assessments continued across the capital throughout the morning.
