Finnish president: War in Ukraine ends, next days “decisive” for achieving peace
Finnish President Alexander Stubb has shared a post on X announcing the end of the war in Ukraine after having held a phone conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“Zelenskyi gave an overview of the latest situation. The future of Ukraine is for Ukraine to decide, and European security is for Europe to decide. The work between Ukraine and the United States continues,” he wrote on the social network on November 25.
In the post, he also said that he held phone talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte as well. Finland’s Defence Minister "Antti Häkkänen took part in both discussions."
The Finnish leader added: “The following days are decisive in our efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace.”
Meanwhile, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen reported that discussions with partners regarding the latest “peace plan” from the Trump team included the idea of a partial ceasefire with Russia, for example, concerning strikes on energy infrastructure.
