Media: France to deploy troops to Sweden as part of NATO presence

Around 200 French soldiers will be deployed to the northern Swedish town of Boden when France joins the Swedish-led FLF (Forward Land Forces) Finland base.

According to the Swedish broadcaster SVT, the decision is expected to be finalised on July 8 during a meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.

It remains unclear which specific French unit will be deployed, though reports mention mountain troops specialising in winter warfare operations in subarctic conditions.
