Estonia stripped of 2027 European Shooting Championships
The 2027 European Air Gun Shooting Championships will be staged in Granada, Spain, instead of Tallinn after Estonia was stripped of its hosting rights because Russian and Belarusian athletes are not permitted to compete in international sporting events held in the country.
The European Shooting Confederation (ESC) said the championships serve as a qualification event for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the 2027 European Games, and as a result, all athletes eligible to participate must be able to compete, Caliber.Az reports, citing Estonian media.
Under Estonia's current policy, Russian and Belarusian citizens are not allowed to take part in international sporting events hosted in the country, prompting the ESC to relocate the championships.
The European Shooting Confederation's website has already been updated to reflect the new host venue, with Granada, Spain, listed as the location for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from March 3 to March 9, 2027.
