Washington renews authorization for US firms to pay taxes in Russia
The US Department of the Treasury has extended a general license permitting US companies and individuals to make tax, fee, and customs duty payments in Russia, allowing businesses that continue operating in the country to meet their legal and administrative obligations.
According to a document published by the Treasury, the renewed authorization will remain in effect until October 9, replacing the previous license that was set to expire on July 9.
The license authorizes payments of taxes, import duties, and other mandatory fees, as well as transactions related to obtaining permits, licenses, registrations, and certificates required for the routine operation of businesses in Russia.
At the same time, the authorization explicitly excludes transactions involving accounts of the Central Bank of Russia, the National Wealth Fund, or the Russian Ministry of Finance held at US financial institutions.
The Treasury has routinely renewed the general license since the introduction of US sanctions on Russia, enabling American companies and citizens with ongoing operations in the country to comply with local regulatory and legal requirements without violating US sanctions rules.
