Multiple blasts echo across Kyiv during air raid alert

Several explosions were reported in Kyiv on Wednesday (July 8) as air raid alerts remained in force across the Ukrainian capital and several other regions.

The first explosion was reported in one of Kyiv's districts by local television channel Kyiv 24. Additional blasts were later reported by Ukrainian broadcaster Suspilne News.

Air raid sirens had been sounding in Kyiv for nearly two hours at the time of the reports. Alerts were also in effect in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.

Earlier, reports also emerged of a fire in the city. No official information on casualties or the extent of the damage was immediately available.
