Ukraine confirms attack on strategic oil facility, says Russian aircraft downed
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) confirmed that it had carried out a strike on the Cherkasy Linear Production Dispatch Station (LPDS) in Russia’s Republic of Bashkortostan.
According to the SBU, at least eight drones were used in the attack. The strike caused a fire in the area of the facility’s tank farm and production infrastructure.
The agency said the Cherkasy LPDS occupies a strategic position within the Transneft-Ural network, serving as a key hub for the receipt, storage, and transportation of refined petroleum products from the Ufa refining cluster into major pipeline systems.
The facility handles around 2 million tonnes of petroleum products annually, while its storage complex consists of 27 tanks with a total capacity exceeding 385,000 cubic meters.
Separately, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that a Russian military aircraft had been shot down.
