French president rejects idea of US seizing Denmark’s Greenland
French President Emmanuel Macron has said he does not believe the United States could seize Greenland, noting that if it were the case, the US president would not have attended the North Atlantic Alliance summit.
Speaking after the NATO summit in Ankara, Macron made it clear that the issue had not been discussed during the gathering, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
"If the United States were really preparing to seize the world's largest island, then the president of that country would not have been at the North Atlantic Alliance summit," Macron stressed.
He emphasised that NATO's principles of solidarity apply not only in the event of aggression against an ally, but also in ensuring that alliance members do not attack one another.
Macron added that all leaders at the summit had "spoken respectfully about the other members of the alliance and without any discrimination."
