Spokesperson: Poland to maintain diplomatic relations with Russia
Poland’s Foreign Ministry has said that Warsaw has no intention of severing diplomatic relations with Russia.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Maciej Wewiór told journalists at a briefing that the recent resolution by the Sejm, the lower house of parliament, urging authorities to relocate the Russian Embassy in Warsaw farther from the Polish Ministry of National Defence, will not influence its actions, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He stated that the Foreign Ministry had taken note of the resolution but did not consider it binding.
Wewiór indicated that the ministry did not plan to engage in debate over the embassy’s precise location, emphasising instead that any discussion should focus on strengthening security measures around the Russian diplomatic mission.
On November 21, the Polish Sejm adopted a resolution calling on the Polish government to take reasonable steps, consistent with international law, to relocate the Russian embassy building in Warsaw. The resolution's authors cited the diplomatic mission's proximity to the Polish Ministry of Defence as the reason for such a move.
