Russian Il-76 fails plant testing
During tests of an Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft at the "Aviastar" factory in Ulyanovsk, an incident took place, Russian media report.
The "incident" was as well confirmed by the press service of the "United Aircraft Corporation" (UAC). The statement says "A tragic incident occurred during testing of the fuselage compartment of an aircraft that was in production. Several employees of the enterprise were injured, one died," Defense Express reports.
The press service detailed that during one of the stages of assembly, the aircraft's fuselage is tested for tightness by pumping in excess pressure, and the plane failed this test. As a result, a blast occurred.
Now the enterprise will investigate the reason for this "incident".
For reference, the russian "Aviastar" is part of the "United Aircraft Corporation", the factory specializes in the production of Il-76MD-90A and Il-78M-90A aircraft, maintenance of An-124 "Ruslan" aircraft, and also takes part in several joint ventures.
