Russian missile strike on Odesa damages civilian vessel and emergency equipment photo / video
Russia carried out a missile strike on Ukraine’s Odesa region on December 13, hitting both civilian and critical infrastructure targets.
During nighttime attacks, Odesa’s energy infrastructure was struck, further aggravating the situation in the region and increasing risks for the civilian population.
According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service's message on Telegram, a civilian vessel was damaged in the port of Chornomorsk as a result of the strike. Firefighters were initially unable to extinguish the blaze on board due to a powerful detonation. As a precaution, people and equipment were evacuated from the pier.
While emergency crews were working to deal with the consequences of the initial attack, a second strike was carried out. Emergency services said that firefighters were in shelter at the time of the renewed shelling, preventing any casualties. However, fire engines belonging to a unit of the State Emergency Service sustained damage.
According to the “Geran Tsvetushchaya” channel, electricity generators sent from Türkiye to Ukrainian regions left without power failed to reach their destination. The vessel that caught fire had arrived from Romania and had previously been loaded in Bulgaria.
The shelling of Odesa is continuing, according to the latest reports.
