Wedding blast in Syria's Daraa province leaves more than 30 wounded video
An explosion during a wedding ceremony on December 12 in the town of Abidin in Syria’s southwestern Daraa province left at least 33 people injured, including children.
The Syrian Arab News Agency cited Daraa health director Ziyad al-Mahamid as saying that the blast resulted in 33 injuries, among them children. However, the province’s official Telegram channel later reported that 34 people were wounded, including seven children, with three listed in critical condition.
Health officials said most of the injured sustained minor to moderate wounds, while one person was reported to be in extremely critical condition and may have suffered the loss of a leg, according to preliminary information. The wounded were transported to three different hospitals, where medical teams began providing emergency care and ongoing treatment.
Videos circulating on social media appear to show the moment the explosion occurred during the wedding celebration.
Syrian official media said internal security forces have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible, with assurances that the perpetrators will be held accountable.
