On December 9, a Sudanese Armed Forces Il-76 military cargo plane crashed while attempting to land, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports.
According to the agency’s sources, all crew members were killed.
The incident occurred near the “Osman Digna” air base outside the city of Port Sudan on the Red Sea coast. Preliminary information suggests that a technical malfunction caused the crash. The aircraft went down about 10 km from the city, with debris scattered across rural areas.
AFP reports that the plane was carrying out a mission to deliver food aid. The official number of casualties has not been disclosed, and rescue teams continue operations at the crash site. Sudan’s Air Force has not yet issued an official statement.
