Single-engine plane crashes in US, all aboard dead
A single-engine plane crashed in a field in central Illinois, the US, on April 19, killing all four people on board.
According to Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers, the victims included two women and two men. Their identities have not been publicly released pending notification of next of kin, Caliber.Az reports, citing US media.
The Cessna C180G aircraft went down around 10 a.m. near Trilla, an unincorporated community in Coles County. Preliminary findings from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) indicate the plane struck power lines before crashing into a field.
Emergency crews responded swiftly to the site, but no survivors were found. The NTSB has launched a formal investigation into the cause of the crash, which remains unknown at this stage.
“Terrible news out of Coles County,” Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said in a social media statement. “My administration is monitoring the situation as we keep those impacted by the plane crash in our thoughts today.”
