Sky News Arabic reveals Trump's letter to Iran's supreme leader A call for peace or a warning?
A letter from former U.S. President Donald Trump to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been made public, revealing an offer for diplomatic engagement and a stark warning against escalation.
The contents of the letter were reported by Sky News Arabic.
In the letter, Trump expressed Washington’s willingness to take "a significant step toward peace and de-escalation," suggesting that cooperation could lead to the lifting of sanctions, economic improvements for Iran, and broader regional stability. However, he also warned of swift and decisive action should Tehran pursue further escalation.
"The United States of America, under my leadership, is ready to take a significant step toward peace and de-escalation. Together, we can lift sanctions, strengthen Iran’s economy, and open doors for cooperation between our two countries—not only for the benefit of our peoples but also for the stability and peace of the Middle East and the world," the letter read.
Trump also cautioned Iran against supporting "terrorist organizations" and engaging in "military adventures," warning that any threats to the U.S. or its allies would be met with a strong response. "If you reject this extended hand, if the Iranian regime chooses the path of escalation, continued support for terrorist organizations, and military adventures, the response will be swift and decisive. We will not stand idly by in the face of threats from your regime against our people or our allies," he asserted.
The letter concluded with an invitation for negotiations: "If you are ready to negotiate, so are we. But if you continue to ignore the demands for peace, history will record that you missed a great opportunity."
The disclosure of the letter comes after Trump commented on Iran’s nuclear program, stating, "I sent them a letter and told them that they will have to make a decision. Either we sit down and talk about it, or very bad things will happen to Iran—and I don’t want that to happen." He emphasized his preference for reaching a mutual understanding with Iran.
