Stoltenberg announces creation of Ukraine-NATO council
The leaders of the North Atlantic Alliance approved the creation of the Ukraine-NATO Council - a new body of cooperation between Kyiv and the Alliance, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference.
"The Ukraine-NATO Council is a forum for crisis consultations and decision-making, where we will meet equally,” he said, NATO's official website reports.
According to the secretary-general, the first meeting of the council took place at the alliance's summit in Vilnius with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"This is a historic moment, Ukraine and NATO countries are sitting side by side to discuss a common vision of Euro-Atlantic security," Stoltenberg said in a short opening statement at the opening of the meeting.
