US official: Russia's military progress in Ukraine limited to metres, not miles
US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg stated that Russia is not making significant progress in its military campaign in Ukraine, with its advancements being limited to "metres rather than miles."
Kellogg emphasised that Russia has failed to achieve substantial victories over the past 18 months of the conflict, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The special envoy stated that Russia would not win the war and that, over the past year and a half, it had not achieved any significant success. He noted that Russia had failed to capture Kyiv, the capital, had not advanced west of the Dnieper, which remained a major obstacle, and had not taken Odessa.
Kellogg further explained that Russia’s lack of progress is evident in the fact that "nothing has moved an inch" and that any gains have been minimal. He pointed out that if Moscow were truly succeeding, the conflict would have ended long ago.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged Kyiv's allies to increase pressure on Russia to "force" it to sit at the negotiation table. He noted that Russia has been ignoring the US proposal for a ceasefire for more than 50 days and has rejected Ukraine's corresponding initiatives.
