Pakistan Navy tests autonomous weapon systems in Arabian Sea
The Pakistan Navy has successfully conducted tests of its air defence system and autonomous weapon systems during drills in the northern Arabian Sea, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
A medium-range LY-80 surface-to-air missile launched from a vertical launch system successfully hit an aerial target, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ISPR statement.
During the large-scale manoeuvres, surface targets of a simulated enemy were also struck using loitering munitions.
In addition, the Pakistan Navy tested unmanned boats in field conditions, demonstrating significant progress in the development of autonomous weapon systems.
The exercises were observed by Pakistan Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, who praised the professionalism of Pakistani personnel and noted the Navy’s high level of combat readiness.
