Nobel Institute draws the line: Peace Prize cannot be shared or transferred
The Norwegian Nobel Institute has commented on the situation regarding the Peace Prize, following Maria Corina Machado's statement that she wants to give it to Donald Trump.
The Institute said on its website the prize "cannot be revoked, shared or transferred to others," Caliber.Az reports.
This way, the organisation responsible for awarding the Nobel Peace Prize has denied claims that the Venezuelan opposition leader and laureate Maria Corina Machado could transfer her award to U.S. President Donald Trump.
"The Norwegian Nobel Committee and the Norwegian Nobel Institute receive a number of requests for comments regarding the permanence of a Nobel Peace Prize laureate’s status. The facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The decision is final and stands for all time" the statement reads.
