Switzerland prepared to defend itself alongside European NATO allies In case Russia attacks
In case of a Russian attack, Switzerland intends to defend itself against the aggressor together with its European NATO partners.
Der Standart reports, citing President of the Swiss Confederation and Defence Minister Viola Amherd.
According to her, the air defense initiative European Sky Shield includes a neutrality clause.
"If Switzerland is attacked, the situation will change and neutrality will no longer apply," Amherd said.
She noted that in this case, Switzerland would be able to "organize our defense with partners".
According to the Swiss president, as with any other weapons system, it is hoped that the defense shield "will not be deployed". However, she argues, cooperation will help Switzerland in the event of defense.
Switzerland is participating in an initiative launched by Germany last year, which aims at joint procurement, training, and sharing of information such as radar data, among other things.
