TABIB: Seasonal rise in COVID-19 cases expected
The Management Union of Medical Territorial Units of Azerbaijan (TABIB) has said that a seasonal increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) infections is expected.
"The congregation of people coming from different countries in enclosed spaces such as airports, aeroplanes, and places of mass entertainment may stimulate an increase in the number of infections and cause the spread of new strains. However, the fact of detection of new COVID strains in Azerbaijan has not been confirmed at present," TABIB says, Report informs.
In addition, it should be noted that the virus continues to mutate and subvariants of these strains with additional mutations are already forming. For this reason, options are constantly monitored by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other public health agencies.
According to TABIB, individuals at high risk of hospitalisation should continue to protect themselves with appropriate precautions at all times.
"Wearing a mask in public places, maintaining social distance, and avoiding contact with patients are some of the recommended measures," the report added.
It should be noted that medical institutions under TABIB have the necessary infrastructure for the treatment of all types of acute respiratory infections.
