Safarov family rejects Russian forensic report, calls for re-examination of bodies in Azerbaijan
The bodies of Azerbaijani nationals Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov, who were killed during a raid by Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) officers in Yekaterinburg, are set to be sent for a re-examination in Azerbaijan, their brother, renowned journalist Seyfaddin Huseynli, confirmed.
Huseynli expressed deep mistrust regarding the findings of the initial forensic examination conducted by Russian authorities, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He categorically rejected the Russian version suggesting that his brothers died from “excitement,” calling the explanation “absolutely unconvincing.”
The tragic incident occurred on the morning of June 27, when the FSB conducted a series of raids targeting Azerbaijani residences in Yekaterinburg. The operation resulted in the deaths of Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov and injuries to several others.
Both victims were brothers of Seyfaddin Huseynli, who has since demanded a transparent and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
