Azerbaijan extradites five suspects from Russia, hands Kyrgyz national over
Azerbaijan has extradited five Azerbaijani citizens wanted internationally on suspicion of serious crimes from Russia, while also handing over a Kyrgyz national wanted by Russian authorities, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office said.
According to the office’s press service, Emil Faig oglu Kazimov, Jabbar Mammadrza oglu Mammadov, Kabil Huseyn oglu Aliyev, Fuad Ilgar oglu Babayev and Kyanan Ali oglu Guliyev were detained in Russia based on international wanted notices issued through Interpol, Caliber.Az reports.
In accordance with the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters, the five suspects were transported from Russia to Azerbaijan under the escort of a special convoy from the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Justice.
Separately, at the request of the Russian side, Azerbaijani authorities extradited Kyrgyz citizen Kamoliddin Salichanovich Tadzhimatov, born in 1994.
Tadzhimatov, who had been detained in Azerbaijan, was handed over to Russian authorities and transported to Russia under the escort of a special convoy from Azerbaijan’s Penitentiary Service.
