Kyrgyzstan calls for joint media projects with Azerbaijan

Kyrgyzstan is open to launching joint media projects and possibly establishing joint news platforms with Azerbaijan, Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy Salkyn Sarnogoeva said.

“I hope that, following our visit, we will not only exchange information but also carry out joint media projects. Perhaps we will establish joint news platforms. We are open to cooperation, ready to consider your proposals and very keen to continue working with you,” she said, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Sarnogoeva said press tours for journalists had become an established tradition. The initiative, launched at the suggestion of the press secretary to the President of Kyrgyzstan, had previously included visits involving Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and had now continued with a visit by Azerbaijani media representatives.

She stressed the importance of closer cooperation between media organisations amid the spread of disinformation, fake news and information attacks worldwide.

“It is particularly important today to strengthen cooperation between media representatives. At a time when disinformation, fake news and information attacks are spreading across the world, we must stand as united as possible, share information and work together,” the deputy minister said.

Sarnogoeva also noted that traditional media were operating in a changing environment, where bloggers and digital platforms capable of spreading information instantly were exerting significant influence over the information landscape.

“In these circumstances, we must stand as united as possible and develop our cooperation,” she emphasised.
