Family alleges torture as Azerbaijani Abbasov suffers broken ribs following Russian police raid
Emin Abbasov, nephew of Aziz Abbasov—who was detained by Russian law enforcement authorities in Yekaterinburg—has revealed that his uncle is currently in an extremely serious medical condition.
Emin disclosed that Aziz sustained multiple broken ribs during the police raid and remained under strict surveillance for several days thereafter without receiving adequate medical care, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“He has not been given any help. His condition is serious. Painkillers were administered only at our expense. He has fluid accumulated in his lungs, and his ribs are broken,” Emin Abbasov stated.
The Abbasov family originally hails from Zahmatabad village in Azerbaijan’s Bilasuvar district and has resided in Russia for approximately four decades.
This distressing update follows a violent operation carried out by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) on the morning of June 27, targeting Azerbaijani residences in Yekaterinburg. The raid resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to several others. Notably, the victims were brothers of famous Azerbaijani journalist Seyfaddin Huseynli.
