Teenager carries out fatal shooting in popular Thai mall
In a distressing incident, a teenage boy armed with a handgun carried out a fatal shooting inside a prominent mall located in the heart of Thailand's capital on October 3.
CNN reported that at least two people lost their lives before the 14-year-old perpetrator was apprehended, according to local authorities.
Police acted swiftly, and a suspect was taken into custody within an hour after the initial gunshots were reported at the upscale Siam Paragon Mall in Bangkok.
Videos shared on social media and broadcast on television depicted a long-haired teenage boy being held by the police. While major Thai media outlets reported that he was 14 years old, the recently appointed police chief, Torsak Sukvimol, confirmed only that the suspect is a minor and suggested that he may be suffering from mental illness.
Torsak Sukvimol also confirmed the tragic loss of two lives in the incident, one being a visitor from China and the other a Myanmar national.
