Russia's overnight drone strike on Odesa leaves several injured
Russian military forces launched an overnight drone attack on the city of Odesa, striking a residential high-rise and leaving several people injured, local authorities confirmed.
The head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, reported that the assault involved strike drones and resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, despite the active efforts of Ukrainian air defence systems, per Caliber.Az.
Kiper detailed that six apartments were completely destroyed in the attack, while another 36 sustained partial damage. Among those injured are a 7-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl, both of whom were hospitalised after suffering smoke inhalation.
The regional office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) confirmed that the strike hit a nine-story residential building, with fires breaking out in apartments on the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors.
“Fifty residents of the building were evacuated, and with the help of specialised equipment, ten people were rescued from the upper floors, including two children,” the SES stated.
Preliminary reports indicate that five people were injured in total, including the two children.
