Snowfall causes massive 45-car chain crash in Indiana, US VIDEO
Around 45 vehicles were involved in a massive chain collision on Interstate 70 in Indiana due to heavy snowfall, NBC reports.
The accident occurred approximately 16 kilometres from Terre Haute. Footage from the Indiana Department of Transportation’s traffic cameras showed the highway clogged with cars, with several vehicles sliding onto the shoulder.
Westbound lanes have been completely blocked, and police estimate they will remain closed for at least six hours. Authorities confirmed that, fortunately, there are no reports of serious injuries.
The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office urged residents to avoid travel if possible, reduce speed, and buckle up when driving in hazardous winter conditions. A winter weather advisory remains in effect in the area until 10:00 a.m. local time on November 30.
