Kyrgyzstan voter turnout hits 34% as snap parliamentary elections near close
Voter turnout for the snap parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan reached 34.31% as of 19:00 local time (17:00 Baku time), with participation continuing to rise as polling nears its close.
According to 24.kg, this information comes from the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the country. Polling stations will remain open until 20:00 local time (18:00 Baku time). Once the stations close, the CEC will begin publishing preliminary vote count data.
Voting began at 08:00 local time (06:00 Baku time). The previous parliament had voted on September 25 to dissolve itself, a decision aimed at separating the parliamentary and presidential election campaigns, with the presidential vote scheduled for January 2027.
Across the country, 2,492 polling stations are open, with another 100 abroad, including 40 in Russia. There are 4,294,243 registered voters, with men making up 48.47% and women 51.52% of the electorate.
Over 10,000 Interior Ministry officers have been deployed to maintain order and prevent violations on election day.
The elections are being held under a majoritarian system, with 90 deputies elected across 30 constituencies (three per district). Candidates were nominated both by parties and as independents. For the first time, a remote voting mechanism is being used at markets, shopping centers, Manas and Osh airports, the National Hospital, and several enterprises.
Voting will continue until 20:00 local time (18:00 Baku time), with preliminary results expected shortly after polls close. Official results will be announced by December 14.
